JustWorld and Florida International Youth Dressage Championships Partnered for Second Year
The 2017 Florida International Youth Dressage Championships and nonprofit JustWorld International partnered for the second year in a row, continuing to spread awareness of JustWorld's mission throughout the dressage community. JustWorld organized various activities throughout the week for the Florida International Youth Dressage Championships' competitors to encourage them to join together and ride for a cause. The 2017 Florida International Youth Dressage Championships (FIYDC), presented by Sarah Davis, Terri Kane, Kim Van Kampen, The Van Kampen Boyer Molinari Foundation, Hampton Green Farm, and Dressage4Kids, took place during week 10 of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida. Young riders were given the opportunity to showcase their talent at one of the largest dressage competitions in the world. International riders represented USA, Spain, Great Britain, Canada, and Austria. Within the FEI divisions offered to riders competing in this season’s FIYDC, there were five horse and rider pairs in the FEI U-25 division, 15 entries in the FEI Young Rider division, eight riders in the FEI Junior Rider division, and a rider in the FEI Pony Rider division. To kick off the Championships, JustWorld held a leadership development night and welcome dinner open to all riders and their families. The evening took place at Belle Herbe Farm where riders came together to learn about philanthropy and JustWorld's mission and projects, followed by leadership games and activities. Participants learned more about how JustWorld currently works with local NGO's in Cambodia, Guatemala, and Honduras to help sustain education, nutrition, health and hygiene, and leadership and cultural development programs for children with little opportunity to receive support from other sources. This year alone, JustWorld has supported more than 6,500 children around the world, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty.Interest, support and excitement for JustWorld grew as the competition progressed. Upon the close of the final day of competition, a generous donation was made to JustWorld in the names of the top competitors in each of the four divisions. These riders then had the opportunity to select what their donations will support through JustWorld. The winners of the Under 25 division were Diana Porsche, Juan Matute Guimon, and Mathilde Blais Tetreault. This division came together to support a month's worth of lunches and two months of medical supplies for 300 students at JustWorld's partner project, Los Patojos, in Guatemala. Top Young Riders Vanessa Creech-Terauds, Codi Harrison, and Camille Carier Bergeron elected to support nutrition programs at each of JustWorld's current partner projects in Cambodia, Guatemala, and Honduras. The Junior and Pony division, including Jade Ellery, Ava MacCoubrey, Natalia Bacariza Danguillecourt, and Lisa Widmayer, also chose to support the lunch program and two months of medical supplies at Los Patojos as well as part of a teacher's salary at JustWorld's partner project, People Improvement Organization, in Cambodia.
Special thanks to Sarah Davis, Kim Boyer, Gilles Bergeron, Terri Kane, Lendon Gray's WIT Dressage4Kids, and all of the talented competitors from the 2017 Florida International Youth Dressage Championships for partnering with JustWorld for the second year in a row!
