Founded in 2003, JustWorld International is a not-for-profit organization that transforms the lives of children in impoverished communities by funding education and nutrition programs.
Currently serving nearly 10,000 children in Cambodia, Guatemala, Honduras and the United States, JustWorld provides a unique opportunity for individuals, businesses, and foundations – notably in the international equestrian community – to learn about, experience, and contribute to fracturing the cycle of poverty among vulnerable children by giving them tools to build a brighter future.
Position Description
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive of JustWorld International. The ED has overall strategic and operational responsibility for JustWorld’s mission delivery, strategy development and implementation, program excellence and efficacy, stakeholder relationship management, staff management, operations performance, financial leadership and viability, regular compliance, and continuous improvement. The ED will initially develop deep knowledge of the international development and equestrian fields, core programs, operations, and business plans.
The ED will report to the Board of Directors. The Board’s main duties are to approve the annual budget, help develop long-term strategic plans, fundraise, and ensure its own succession. The Board is not involved in the day-to-day management of the organization.
Profile
The ED will be thoroughly committed to JustWorld’s mission. Candidates should have proven leadership, staff development, and relationship management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in nonprofit management or a related discipline is desirable.
- Solid experience in business or nonprofit management
- Past success working with a board of directors
- Ability to convey a vision of JustWorld’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, and donors
- Excellence in organizational management with the ability to manage staff and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
- Proven ability of making discernible impact on mission and stakeholder priorities in nonprofits and/or for-profit organizations
- Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
- Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven evaluation
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
Ideally, the candidate will also have:
- Familiarity with the equestrian industry, including knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to sector
- Experience working with projects in developing countries
- Proficiency in French and/or Spanish
- A successful track record of fundraising from multiple revenue sources
This position is based in Wellington, FL, and requires frequent domestic and international travel.
