Thoughtful Ambassador Initiative: Lukene Arenas

Ambassador Lukene Arenas, from Guatemala City, Guatemala, truly took on Los Patojos’ slogan “Dreams and Ideas in Action” when coming up with an original Ambassador fundraising initiative.

On Friday, June 17th, a Junior JustWorld Ambassador made some creative and generous decisions by turning her school’s business fair project into a way to raise funds for JustWorld’s project partner, Los Patojos in Guatemala. Los Patojos has been a partner of JustWorld for eight years and is repeatedly referred to as an inspiring place filled with the love of learning, art and creativity.IMG_0631Lukene’s school holds an annual business fair where each student creates a booth to showcase an individual product, idea or business they create. For Lukene’s exhibit, she decided to create and sell fabric napkins. Lukene personally selected individual fabrics and then had the napkins sent out to be trimmed, as well as to add boarders as finishing touches. She then took it one step further, artfully displaying the napkins in groups. The booth even had example place settings and silverware, perfectly showing the elegance and beauty of each napkin. It was optional for sets of napkins to be sold in decorative buckets and both large and small sizes where available for purchase. After a long day at the fair, Lukene’s napkins not only made a perfect addition to any dinner party but also brought in a total of 300 Guatemala Quetzales and all of the proceeds went directly to Los Patojos!
